The Hijacking of America's schools

Dear Fellow Citizen,

You’ve heard the line. You’ve heard “Terrorists have hijacked Islam!” But here’s the truth: Islam hijacks things. Like airplanes.

In this letter I want to tell you how Islam is hijacking America’s educational establishments.

From wealthy Saudi sheiks funding university departments... to Muslim principals running grade schools... to naïve college professors unwittingly promoting Islam... to publishers accepting Islamic revisions to their textbooks... the problem is only getting worse.

You already know the crucial role our education system has on shaping future generations. That’s why it’s important for you and me to be aware of what’s happening.

In a minute I’m going to ask you to send me information about what Islam is doing in the schools in your area. But first let me tell you about a few specific cases which have come to my attention – sent from friends just like you....

Case #1 – New York City

Fall 2007 - Dhabah “Debbie” Almontaser, a Muslim educator, founds the Khalil Gibran International Academy – a publicly-funded grade school that teaches Arabic and features heavily Islam-influenced curriculum. Ms. Almontaser is later billed by the “NY Times” as a “moderate” Muslim - but much of the company she keeps is anything but.

In fact, she’s closely connected to groups like AWAAM, which published the infamous “Intifada NYC” t-shirt (“intifada” means “revolt” or “insurrection”) and AMAL, the law firm that defended the notorious six “flying imams.” Because of these links, she’s recently been forced to resign her position as principal of the Academy... and, predictably, is now suing the NY Department of Education.

Case #2 - California

In 2006 I wrote about the Islamicization of the Byron Unified School District. Now the Christian Action Network reports an update:

Seventh grade students were given an ”Islam Student Guide” that specifically states: “From the beginning, you and your classmates will become Muslim.” The program has been upheld as constitutional by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Case #3 - Illinois

Martin Forward teaches religion at Aurora University, near Chicago. He has recently been chosen to edit a Christian-Muslim “dictionary.” Unfortunately, he has allowed himself to get sidetracked into discussions of secondary topics like being “sensitive” about food and hospitality. Meanwhile Islam is establishing itself behind his back – and co-opting him as an unwitting apologist. Listen to him:

I meet people who belong to CAIR, the Council of American Islamic Relations, and they’re good American Muslims.... They hate Al Qaida, and find them just as offensive as I do. In fact, more offensive, because they’re trying to hijack their religion.

Here’s a man who’s bought “the line.” He’s clearly ignorant of the mountain of evidence showing how intimately CAIR is connected to terrorism. This academic is influencing dozens by his teaching, and thousands by his book, and he is avidly promoting the lies of CAIR!

Educators are important because they have power to shape minds. This is a case of that power being abused. It’s not Islam that’s being “hijacked.” Islam is “hijacking” the educational establishment.

Case #4 - Universities across America

A “Front Page Magazine” article reports that “...the money the Saudis are pouring into our universities in the form of gifts and endowments is alarming.” We know that a total of $64.1 million dollars has gone to 10 universities, including Harvard, Georgetown, UC Berkeley, and Cornell. There are too many to list here.

Saudi infiltration works on several levels. By creating “Middle East Studies Centers” and endowed chairs on campuses across the nation, the Saudis are able to influence the curriculum taught to the next generation of Americans. That curriculum is decidedly anti- Western, anti-Christian and anti-Jewish. And speaking of curriculum...

Case #5 – My Own Backyard!

The Islamic Saudi Academy, a private Muslim-run grade school, has a branch campus in Fairfax, VA, a few miles from my house. The school is concerning because it:

• gets millions of dollars from the Saudi government, which also chooses the principal and pays the teachers.

• teaches principles contrary to the U.S. Constitution.

• uses books that refer to Jews and Christians as “apes and swine.”

• refuses to turn over this curriculum for inspection.

• is investigated by a private citizen who presents his report to the school district, which renews the school’s lease and then declines to release the report.

• produces a valedictorian who is later convicted of an assassination plot against President Bush.

I’m concerned. Aren’t you?

Infiltration in Action

Interestingly enough, Susan Douglass, a former teacher from this very same Saudi Academy, plays a major role in producing Islamic friendly textbooks for public schools across America.

Mrs. Douglass now works for the Council on Islamic Education, which is called “the only national faith-based organization in the U.S. that is directly involved in the process of reviewing public school textbooks from a multicultural perspective.”

Translation: Muslim “academic experts” have approached America’s major textbook publishers and offered to critique new texts to ensure they include plenty of passages from an “Islamic perspective.” These passages can run to 30 pages and include highly detailed religious instruction in Islam. Plus a lot of historical whitewashing.

Nowadays, the CIE has moved past simply offering advice, and is producing its own textbooks, things like “The Crusades from Medieval European and Muslim Perspectives: A Unit of Study for Grades 7-12.”

Islam and Education

Traditional Islamic schooling gives the teachings of Mohammed utmost preeminence, even at the expense of a well-rounded education. Thomas Patrick Hughes, writing the “Encyclopedia of Islam” a hundred years ago, says this:

The chief aim and object of education in Islam is, therefore, to obtain a knowledge of the religion of Muhammed, and anything beyond this is considered superfluous, and even dangerous.

Today, many “modern” Muslims receive a Western education - but they are often strongly criticized by fundamentalist Muslims for the Western (and often secular) views they adopt.

Listen to what the Muslim theologian Maududi said in 1936 to Muslims in India:

It is... high time for the Muslims to get rid of the old and stale system of education as well as the modern system of secular orientation and work out a separate system of education of their own... making best use of modern science and techniques but with undiluted Islamic orientation. This plan should be executed and implemented through those who are not only well versed in Islam but are also armed with firm faith and conviction and full of missionary zeal.

Maududi’s words are revered by today’s fundamentalist Muslims. In fact, he’s one of the intellectual heroes of the modern-day jihadist!

True Islam is concerned about education only in regards to how it will advance Islam. But it’s happy to use the current system for its own ends. That’s why moderate and fundamentalist Muslims are working together to co-opt our educational system for the purpose of permanently ingraining the Islamic world-view in America.

The Liberalism Connection

This partnership mirrors another “strange bedfellows” situation: Islam and the American left. You know leftist liberalism claims to care about things like:

• “EQUALITY”: equal rights for women & minorities, care for the poor and despised, etc.

• “PERSONAL AUTONOMY”: freedom of expression, separation of church and state

• “TOLERANCE” (the value that overshadows all the others)

You know Islam is absolutely opposed to all of these ”liberal” virtues! Liberalism should be Islam’s worst enemy. But it’s not. Why?

Here’s why. Islam and liberalism work together well because they have a common enemy. Yes, liberalism dislikes Islamic intolerance. And Islam abhors liberalism’s immorality and immodesty. But they both hate Christianity more than they hate each other. Their enmity towards Christ runs deeper than their enmity towards each other.

The Truth

Islam exalts Mohammed over Christ and submission over freedom. It seeks a society devoid of freedom of religion. American freedom of religion is the very reason why Islam must not be promoted in schools!

Islam will use “freedom of religion” to keep Christianity out of schools. But think about it. Islamic education teaches people to be like Mohammed. Christian education teaches people to be like Christ. Who’s the better role model for the next generation of Americans?

How You Can Help

I know how the lie of Islam enslaves Muslims. I know the threat that Islam is to America. I’ve lived in a Muslim country and seen it up close. That’s why my co-workers and I intend to stand against the Islamic education infiltration. I need your help in several ways:

1. Pray for me – for success and for safety.

2. Send a donation. Research, confrontation, and press releases cost money.

3. Find and send me stories or newspaper articles from your own hometown about Islamic infiltration of the school system. I want local news, not national news (I can find that myself). I’ll file it away and use it in the future.

Islam is hijacking the schools of America. That’s just one more reason why you and I must continue to tell the Truth – for the benefit of future generations. I’m counting on you to help.
