My wife is wife and I have very different ways of looking at insurance. My wife’s way is to hand the paperwork to me and ask me to look at it. Although we pay the bills equally, we don’t spend the same amount of time researching the coverage.
I shouldn’t complain. I can’t cook like she can. I can’t do the taxes either. Both of those are things that she does and does well.
Anyway, I’ve spent the last two days trying to get as good an idea as I can about the average price of house insurance in SD. We think that we are paying too much for our coverage and it’s my job to get a good policy at the lowest price.
We want to pay as little as we can so that we’ll have more money to save and invest. As we get older, we are realizing how important it is to put money away. Because of that I need to look at some other insurance stuff.
I need to find the best annuity rates too. We don’t like stocks and bonds too much. The safety of a brand name insurance company for at least part of our money is a good idea to balance out our portfolio.
Fortunately, our medical insurance is provided by my insurer. We don’t need to spend any time thinking about that in the near future. I’ve been at my company for twenty years and will probably be there for another fifteen.
I guess I should get back to the research. My wife is baking my favorite cookies and I want to hold up my end of the deal.
