You are so right. So who would not pay an extra few cents per head of lettuce rather than having to pay for the medical care and education of the illegals offspring. What do the republicans not understand about the free market? Wages for picking stuff and working on a farm would have to go up. At some point people would want to do the work. It might be 20 per hour, 30 per hour but there is some number that will encourage out of work attorneys to go pick strawberries. The immigrants rights argument that only Mexicans will do it is ridiculous…..go to Denmark or Sweden…..plenty of non Mexicans people pick produce. What the Afghans did was senseless murder, again the name of religion, and confirms what we already knew; that their culture is primitive. However, what the Florida pastor did was monumentally stupid and reckless. Of course he has the right to do it and I agree with everyone who points that out, but he every reason to expect that violence would break up advice out and bears responsibility as well.

Why is it that there are 100 posts discussing republican or democratic talking points, and not one asking why access to the U.S. market is being given away for free advice in the name of free trade, but our competitors (including China) are exacting a pound of flesh to sell into their markets? Why is there no discussion of re-working free trade agreements (which we are running deficits on, effectively losing our wealth)?
